Parasporos beach, Paros Island |
The beach of Parasporos is a long sandy beach situated at a short distance far from the center of Paoikia, some 2,5 kilometers at the South of the capital of the island. The beach is pretty popular, one of the favorite beaches of the younger visitors of the island. It is rather well organized, with several bars and taverns. The sea is clean and the wide sand is ideal for sunbathing, lying down on a sun bed, or for relaxing under the shade of an umbrella. Only a part of the beach offers these facilities; the rest of it is more natural, left for the swimmers who prefer a more authentic environment. The rocks at both ends of the beach and numerous tamarisk trees are the most characteristic features of the landscape, although several visitors tell that they don’t like the rocks of the beach. Any way, the place is a pole of attraction and gathers big crowds. |

Accommodation facilities are available in the area and there are several alternatives for good food, but very often, due to the popularity of the beach, there is noise and jam of people. During summer the beach bars organize long parties lasting all night round, where people enjoy themselves with dance and music. For any problem, the corresponding services of the near by Paroikia (2,5 kilometers to the North) are available for you. Access to the beach is very easy by bus, running frequently. The bus will drop you at the public road; from there you will follow the good sealed street leading to the beach, where you will arrive after you have walked a few hundred meters. Of course, you may also use a taxi or a car (rented or private) and motorbikes. In this case you will park your vehicle near the sand or, if there is no space, you will leave it farer away, at the space serving as a temporary parking. |
